The regions, the building, and the why
Baltimore Magazine went deepest on the idea that organizes everything here: plants and pours traced back to the communities they come from.
The feature walks through our regions concept, houseplants grouped by their origins in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Australia, alongside a drink program that centers Black-owned and women-owned makers from many of those same places. It also tells the story of our home, Browns Arcade, a Charles Street building on the National Historic Registry that housed shops and offices in the years after the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904, and of the former engineer who filled it with green.
